This article aims to analyze the different discursive forms through which the interventions of the State and the Church on the indigenous population and their reservation lands were justified. In this framework of analysis, the relationship among land tenure, protection, and evangelization will be transversal to the type of reflection proposed, which is based on a critical stance towards the concepts of civilization and progress in relation to the understanding of the indigenous issue throughout Colombian history, specifically between the second half of the 19th century and the first of the 20th century in Antioquia.
