Abstract

This work is carried out with the objective of describing the opinion, participation, and monitoring of the teaching staff in the offer of continuous training oriented to emotional management of the Colegio de Bachilleres (Colbach), campus 3 “Iztacalco” in order to recognize the importance of the development of socio-emotional skills and emotional intelligence in teaching practice. For this, an investigation was implemented under the qualitative approach, in which the participatory observation was carried out in two courses, based on the ethnographic method: “Emotional intelligence for the improvement of teaching practice” and “Socio-emotional skills and their relationship with teaching practice”. In addition, four in-depth interviews were conducted with key informants. Among the results it was found that their educational interests are oriented to understanding their emotions, how to educate them. In knowledge to develop didactic strategies that motivate learning and acquire emotional competencies such as leadership, communication, and empathy. Regarding the perspectives of teachers, one of their training needs is to be trained in subjects related to emotions, and the contents reviewed allowed them to learn about active listening and the functioning of emotions. Regarding the application of what has been learned, through teaching, it is considered essential to forming emotional competencies in students. Therefore, it is concluded that training in emotional management for teachers is relevant because it allows us to understand how emotions are manifested individually and socially; this for self-knowledge and the establishment of affective and harmonious interpersonal relationships.
