This article addresses the problem of the Partido Nacional (Chile) project in relation to the political, economic and social context of the period 1966-1973, namely, the crisis of the Developmentalist State and the search for a plausible political solution to get out of that situation. Its objective is to understand the historical development of the ideology of the party and its vision of the relationship between individuals and the state. Based on a documentary review about the Partido Nacional ideology, and from a perspective that privileges political history as a methodological approach, it is argued that this ideology presents a proposal to transform this relationship, in which liberal, conservative and nationalist ideas coexist. This proposal is based on a belief system that proposes to rescue the value of private initiative over state action. It also justifies its legitimacy in the interest of the national community.
