In 1979, the philosopher Jean François Lyotard published The postmodern condition: a report on knowledge, in which the analysis was offered on the epistemological principles that have been legitimate all kinds of knowledge in post-industrial societies since the 1950s. Postmodernity is characterized by the loss of confidence in the great stories. This paper offers a reflection that starts from the hypothesis that the loss of the great stories and the multiplication in countless small stories are ideological discourses that have generated capitalism to affirm the fetishistic character of commodities.
