Abstract

Henrique Carneiro's text analyzes the conceptual evolution that gives the term "drug"a multiplicity of meanings, ranging from poison to medicine, from original substances of the country to phytotherapeutic medicines, and also examines the conflicts between indigenous knowledge and its appropriation by colonial society.
